The platform is currently active in 11 European markets, available in 10 languages, and already reaches over 500,000 users per month. In total, more than 100,000 vehicle comparisons have been carried out on DriveDuel.
DriveDuel was born out of an unusual situation:
Founder Achim Sedelmaier, a software developer from Schärding (Austria), was once an employee of the car comparison platform AUTOGOTT, which unfortunately later went bankrupt. As the project was on the verge of complete shutdown and the data along with years of work were at risk of disappearing, he decided not to let the platform simply die out.
“I didn't want everything to be deleted. I saved what was still possible – and built something bigger from it.” This rescue led to the creation of DriveDuel: the modern, Europe-wide scaled development of the original concept.
Many car buyers only realize after purchasing that a "test winner" isn't automatically the best car for their own daily needs.
That's why DriveDuel doesn't rely solely on rankings but on understandable comparisons, for example in areas like:
• Drive and efficiency (electric, hybrid, combustion engine)
• Trunk space and everyday usability
• Differences in value for money
• Technical specifications in direct comparison
• Decision-making aids for different types of drivers
The aim is to make purchasing decisions more transparent – especially in a market that is changing significantly due to electromobility and new vehicle concepts.
DriveDuel was built independently – without venture capital or large marketing campaigns.
The growth is based on organic reach, structured vehicle data, and a consistent multilingual approach.
In the long term, DriveDuel aims to be more than just a comparison tool; it wants to be a European platform where data, discussion, and real user questions come together.
