Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

Mercedes GLE is substantially cheaper – starting at 78,900 £ , while the BMW XM costs 116,100 £ . That’s a price difference of around 37,230 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the Mercedes GLE uses 3.2 L/100km and is considerably more efficient than the BMW XM with 4.7 L/100km. The difference is about 1.5 L/100km.

As for electric range, the Mercedes GLE offers clearly more range – reaching up to 104 km, about 24 km more than the BMW XM.

Mercedes is completely superior to Volvo, which feels plasticky and noisy with poor fit and finish, a poor tactile feel in the controls and a lack of buttons.
