Costs and Efficiency:

Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

Mercedes B Class is barely cheaper – starting at 33,100 £ , while the Nissan X-Trail costs 34,200 £ . That’s a price difference of around 1,028 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the Mercedes B Class uses 5.1 L/100km and is slightly more efficient than the Nissan X-Trail with 5.7 L/100km. The difference is about 0.6 L/100km.

My wife and I have been driving a Mercedes W247 200d for seven years now, with 93,000 km on the clock. The car is very comfortable even on long trips and economical. At the last service the pads of the electric parking brake were replaced; otherwise no repairs. We love this car.

I drive an Outback every day; I had an X‑Trail as a courtesy car while mine was in for service. First impression after a few kilometres of driving — the suspension is a disaster. You get the feeling this car picks up every single imperfection in the tarmac. Also, at idle the engine causes noticeably more vibrations in the cabin than the Subaru.
