When it comes to price and running costs, the biggest differences usually appear. This is often where you see which car fits your budget better in the long run.

VW ID.7 is clearly cheaper – starting at 46,400 £ , while the Mercedes G-Class costs 106,600 £ . That’s a price difference of around 60,215 £.

In terms of energy consumption, the VW ID.7 is considerably more efficient: consuming 13.6 kWh/100km compared to 28 kWh/100km for the Mercedes G-Class. That’s a difference of about 14.4 kWh/100km.

As for electric range, the VW ID.7 offers visibly more range – reaching up to 708 km, about 229 km more than the Mercedes G-Class.

The Smart attracts with its power and charging. I ended up choosing the ID7, though. The decision was influenced by it being European and by my three years' experience with the ID4. The ID4 has been an excellent vehicle.

Range is completely wrong compared to what’s shown. In reality you can only rely on about 60% of the distance. The boot only opens for whoever has the key? That’s a massive headache for my work.
