Price and efficiency are often the first things buyers look at. Here it becomes clear which model has the long-term edge – whether at the pump, the plug, or in purchase price.

Mercedes B Class is a bit cheaper – starting at 33,100 £ , while the Lynk & Co 01 costs 36,900 £ . That’s a price difference of around 3,723 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the Lynk & Co 01 uses 0.9 L/100km and is considerably more efficient than the Mercedes B Class with 5.1 L/100km. The difference is about 4.2 L/100km.

My wife and I have been driving a Mercedes W247 200d for seven years now, with 93,000 km on the clock. The car is very comfortable even on long trips and economical. At the last service the pads of the electric parking brake were replaced; otherwise no repairs. We love this car.

Looks tough, has all the options. Good electric range. My wife drives to and from work every day. Because of that we only have to refuel once every 1–2 months. Drives wonderfully. Great sound system. A pleasure to drive.

I have the 01 from 2022 and have had it for 2 years. It's been a lovely car to own and drive. I return from Spain to the UK twice a year in it and it's a pleasure to travel in. The only grip has been the infotainment system which has been buggy and slow. I had the software updated a few weeks ago at the Volvo garage as the over the air option does not work. This has made the infotainment system acceptable now.

It takes a while to get used to the seats for me as the base is quite hard but now I feel they are very confortable. I charge it everyday in the carpark and I use it 90% of the time on electric mode. It does the 70km on a full charge as stated and in petrol mode I'm getting around 16km a litre or 75 a gallon, the engine is only used on motorways.

Aftersales service is patchy here in Spain. My nearest dealer is about a 40 min drive from here, it's not like owning a Renault where there's a dealer everywhere, I've only had to take it there twice, once turned out to be a stone in a brake caliper causing a squeak and the other for the software update.

I highly recommend these cars!
