Price and efficiency are often the first things buyers look at. Here it becomes clear which model has the long-term edge – whether at the pump, the plug, or in purchase price.

VW ID.7 is substantially cheaper – starting at 46,400 £ , while the Mercedes EQS SUV costs 95,000 £ . That’s a price difference of around 48,597 £.

In terms of energy consumption, the VW ID.7 is substantially more efficient: consuming 13.6 kWh/100km compared to 19.6 kWh/100km for the Mercedes EQS SUV. That’s a difference of about 6 kWh/100km.

The Smart attracts with its power and charging. I ended up choosing the ID7, though. The decision was influenced by it being European and by my three years' experience with the ID4. The ID4 has been an excellent vehicle.

Range is completely wrong compared to what’s shown. In reality you can only rely on about 60% of the distance. The boot only opens for whoever has the key? That’s a massive headache for my work.
