Price and efficiency are key factors when choosing a car – and this is often where the real differences emerge.

MG Marvel R is moderately cheaper – starting at 40,300 £ , while the VW ID.7 costs 46,400 £ . That’s a price difference of around 6,098 £.

In terms of energy consumption, the VW ID.7 is considerably more efficient: consuming 13.6 kWh/100km compared to 19.4 kWh/100km for the MG Marvel R. That’s a difference of about 5.8 kWh/100km.

As for electric range, the VW ID.7 offers significantly more range – reaching up to 708 km, about 306 km more than the MG Marvel R.

The Smart attracts with its power and charging. I ended up choosing the ID7, though. The decision was influenced by it being European and by my three years' experience with the ID4. The ID4 has been an excellent vehicle.

Range is completely wrong compared to what’s shown. In reality you can only rely on about 60% of the distance. The boot only opens for whoever has the key? That’s a massive headache for my work.

It is a super comfortable car with a charging from 10-80% in less than 20 minutes. This car is also a very economic car as it is fully electric.

Nice-handling SUV. Steers much more sharply than my previous SUV, a Lynk & Co 01. Has almost the same options as the Lynk. I wanted fully electric, though. The Marvel has a realistic range. So far it has never shown the WLTP figure of 402. But whatever it shows, it achieves. And I've experienced that very differently before (Lynk & Co 01 and Mazda MX-30). In short, a very good, comfortable EV. Downsides: abrupt steering corrections and annoying warning beeps. These can be switched off, but you have to do it every time. It's also a shame that the otherwise great navigation has no Dutch voice.
