Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

Volvo XC40 is clearly cheaper – starting at 41,900 £ , while the Audi Q7 costs 70,600 £ . That’s a price difference of around 28,723 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the Audi Q7 uses 3.8 L/100km and is clearly more efficient than the Volvo XC40 with 6.5 L/100km. The difference is about 2.7 L/100km.

Engine and Performance:

Constant faults with the touch door opening, the trunk, sign-reading and the front obstacle sensors. The service repaired it under warranty five times — they replaced wiring harnesses, a sensor, uploaded software — and then gave up. They told me they don’t know what else to do. That’s the customer care at a German premium brand. A car worth over 400,000 and they tell the customer they don’t know what to do. I paid the final installment and I’m giving the car back to them. I’m taking a Chinese BYD Seal U DM-i plug-in hybrid with better equipment for 165k after a discount from 225k. With that attitude to customers and those high prices, the Germans will have fewer and fewer people interested in their cars — but they’ve only got themselves to blame!!!
