Price and efficiency are often the first things buyers look at. Here it becomes clear which model has the long-term edge – whether at the pump, the plug, or in purchase price.

Honda HR-V is very slightly cheaper – starting at 29,100 £ , while the BMW 1 Series costs 29,400 £ . That’s a price difference of around 300 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the BMW 1 Series uses 4.3 L/100km and is clearly more efficient than the Honda HR-V with 5.4 L/100km. The difference is about 1.1 L/100km.

Very nice car with plenty of interior space. Reliable engineering and, thank goodness, most functions are still operated with switches or knobs. It sits superbly on the road, although the standard Michelin Primacy 4 tyres produce a somewhat loud rolling noise. As a day-registered car in Elegance trim for €26,980 with zero kilometres, a real bargain. Honda and Toyota are absolutely equal in build quality and reliability. You can buy it without hesitation.
