Costs and Efficiency:

Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

Mazda 2 is noticeably cheaper – starting at 14,200 £ , while the MG ZS costs 18,000 £ . That’s a price difference of around 3,771 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the Mazda 2 uses 4.7 L/100km and is only slightly more efficient than the MG ZS with 5.1 L/100km. The difference is about 0.4 L/100km.

Under the bonnet, it becomes clear which model is tuned for sportiness and which one takes the lead when you hit the accelerator.

With all the features it offers at that price, the MG has no competition. A BMW X1 of similar dimensions with a few extra upgrades costs more than twice as much, and considering that 40% of MG’s spare parts come from Germany (Bosch, Continental, etc.), I’d go for the MG ZS Hybrid without a second thought.
