Price and efficiency are often the first things buyers look at. Here it becomes clear which model has the long-term edge – whether at the pump, the plug, or in purchase price.

Mazda CX-5 is clearly cheaper – starting at 30,000 £ , while the MG MGS9 costs 38,600 £ . That’s a price difference of around 8,571 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the MG MGS9 uses 2.4 L/100km and is considerably more efficient than the Mazda CX-5 with 7 L/100km. The difference is about 4.6 L/100km.

I've been driving Mazdas for about ten years now without problems and with a lot of enjoyment. The last 3.5 years in a CX‑5. A really nice, smooth car that can tow quite a bit too, although I wouldn't recommend doing that with the FWD because it lacks grip on the front axle — so if you fit a towbar always choose the AWD. The only downside I can think of, after long consideration, is... nothing 🤔
