Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

Renault R5 is markedly cheaper – starting at 24,000 £ , while the Mazda CX-5 costs 30,000 £ . That’s a price difference of around 5,991 £.

Engine and Performance:

Power, torque and acceleration are the classic benchmarks for car enthusiasts – and here, some clear differences start to show.

When it comes to engine power, the Renault R5 offers only slightly more power – delivering 150 HP compared to 141 HP. That’s roughly 9 HP more horsepower.

Mazda is much better designed. Audis are pretty ugly overall, especially the "Q" series.

I've been driving Mazdas for about ten years now without problems and with a lot of enjoyment. The last 3.5 years in a CX‑5. A really nice, smooth car that can tow quite a bit too, although I wouldn't recommend doing that with the FWD because it lacks grip on the front axle — so if you fit a towbar always choose the AWD. The only downside I can think of, after long consideration, is... nothing 🤔

Practical, nimble, and fun to drive. For rather small drivers up to 1.75 m there's plenty of space even on the back seat. Useful driver-assist systems, and Android Auto works well. Very economical in summer. In winter a lot of energy is used in the first five minutes to bring the battery up to 20°C, which makes consumption on short winter trips very high.
