Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

Skoda Epiq is significantly cheaper – starting at 22,200 £ , while the MG MGS5 EV costs 32,600 £ . That’s a price difference of around 10,362 £.

In terms of energy consumption, the Skoda Epiq is slightly more efficient: consuming 13.7 kWh/100km compared to 15.5 kWh/100km for the MG MGS5 EV. That’s a difference of about 1.8 kWh/100km.

MG Brand clearly not as it once was, Chinese owned swamping the SUV market with cheap affordable SUV's, but low reliability rating (2025)

We have recently moved from an ID3 to and MGS5. For me, the S5 feels a decent upgrade. The build quality really surprised me, especially in the cabin. the drive is also reassuringly solid, and in my opinion better than the ID3. the MGS5 is slightly quicker, but not too much that it is noticeable, and also more practical due to it's size.
Gone are my days of thinking MG was now just a cheap Chinese alternative. Go and test drive one, you'll see!
