Here’s where it gets real: The technical differences in detail

Costs and Efficiency:

When it comes to price and running costs, the biggest differences usually appear. This is often where you see which car fits your budget better in the long run.

MG MGS9 is visibly cheaper – starting at 38,600 £ , while the XPeng G9 costs 51,100 £ . That’s a price difference of around 12,523 £.

As for electric range, the XPeng G9 offers clearly more range – reaching up to 585 km, about 485 km more than the MG MGS9.

Engine and Performance:

Under the bonnet, it becomes clear which model is tuned for sportiness and which one takes the lead when you hit the accelerator.

When it comes to engine power, the XPeng G9 offers substantially more power – delivering 575 HP compared to 299 HP. That’s roughly 276 HP more horsepower.

When accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h, the XPeng G9 is clearly quicker – completing the sprint in 4.2 s, while the MG MGS9 takes 9.6 s. That’s about 5.4 s quicker.

I drove the Mercedes EQS and the Xpeng G9 Performance. The Xpeng is an ultra-modern, voice-controlled car with excellent build quality, a superior sound system and air suspension. I now understand why VW invested €700 million to buy a 5% stake in Xpeng. VW cars in China now run on Xpeng technology.

I've seen and driven both cars. The XPeng 9 makes more of an impression. The Zeekr 7x's interior color is limited to black — a real shame! For a nicer contrast you'll have to have it wrapped in a different color. But that's a matter of taste! Otherwise the cars are comparable, noting that the XPeng is a proper SUV while the Zeekr 7x is a crossover.
