Costs and Efficiency:

Price and efficiency are often the first things buyers look at. Here it becomes clear which model has the long-term edge – whether at the pump, the plug, or in purchase price.

smart #5 is markedly cheaper – starting at 39,300 £ , while the XPeng G9 costs 51,100 £ . That’s a price difference of around 11,743 £.

When it comes to electricity consumption, both models perform equally – each averaging 18.4 kWh/100km.

As for electric range, the smart #5 offers only slightly more range – reaching up to 590 km, about 5 km more than the XPeng G9.

Engine and Performance:

Power, torque and acceleration say a lot about how a car feels on the road. This is where you see which model delivers more driving dynamics.

When it comes to engine power, the smart #5 offers moderately more power – delivering 646 HP compared to 575 HP. That’s roughly 71 HP more horsepower.

When accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h, the smart #5 is somewhat quicker – completing the sprint in 3.8 s, while the XPeng G9 takes 4.2 s. That’s about 0.4 s quicker.

I drove the Mercedes EQS and the Xpeng G9 Performance. The Xpeng is an ultra-modern, voice-controlled car with excellent build quality, a superior sound system and air suspension. I now understand why VW invested €700 million to buy a 5% stake in Xpeng. VW cars in China now run on Xpeng technology.

I've seen and driven both cars. The XPeng 9 makes more of an impression. The Zeekr 7x's interior color is limited to black — a real shame! For a nicer contrast you'll have to have it wrapped in a different color. But that's a matter of taste! Otherwise the cars are comparable, noting that the XPeng is a proper SUV while the Zeekr 7x is a crossover.

I spent a weekend with the Brabus #5 and I’m thrilled! Extremely quiet, even at just under 220 km/h. Very good ride comfort, especially if, like me, you prefer a softer setup for better suspension comfort!
Brutal acceleration that only really hits from about 50 km/h and culminates in a 0–200 km/h sprint in 10.2 seconds… There are almost no cars up to roughly 1,000 hp that are faster!
The actual charging performance is, I believe, the best of any passenger car available in the EU (only Zeekr shows a little more on paper, but probably not in real life) — it charges at peaks up to 425 kW! 10–80% in 13 minutes and 5–100% in 28 minutes.
The fit and finish are in places better than the Mercedes E‑Class...

Apart from the hopefully soon improved/reduced chimes and the horrendously hard-to-reach mute for the speed warning, the car is really a knockout!
Very, very quiet, comfortable, extremely fast (Brabus version), great build quality, great equipment!
