VW ID. Polo – Electric Revolution in a Compact Package

The VW ID. Polo represents a strategic turning point for Volkswagen: The iconic Polo name is going electric and is set to go into full production as a small electric car from 2026.

VW ID. Polo – Electric Revolution in a Compact Package

Volkswagen combines traditional brand heritage with modern electromobility, making it affordable and practical to start everyday life with an electric car.

Design & Space

The ID. Polo stays true to its compact roots: At around 4.05 m in length, 1.81 m in width, and 1.53 m in height, it fits perfectly where urban customers feel comfortable. Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the electric Polo offers surprisingly ample space - including the trunk - and benefits from the new MEB+ platform with front-wheel drive.

This is how the VW ID. Polo could look. As soon as the official images are available, we will update you here.

Electric Drive & Range

VW focuses on efficiency and practicality with the ID. Polo:

  • Front-wheel drive with electric motors available in various power levels

  • Range up to approximately 450 km according to WLTP - depending on battery size

  • Fast charging possible with up to 90 kW / 130 kW DC

  • AC charging capability up to 11 kW

  • Charge from 10% to 80% in about 20 minutes
This means the ID. Polo is not only suitable for urban commuting but also impresses on longer trips.

Performance & Driving Experience

In its strongest version, the ID. Polo delivers up to 211 horsepower (with the later GTI top model even around 226 horsepower) and accelerates powerfully from a standstill – typical for an electric drive. Despite front-wheel drive, the handling feels agile, combined with the quiet, everyday-friendly driving experience that electric cars are known for.

Interior & Controls

VW responds to customer feedback: The interior of the ID. Polo combines modern design with functional operation. In addition to digital displays for the cockpit and infotainment, there are once again real physical buttons that are more intuitive to use in everyday life – a deliberate step away from purely touch-based controls.

Price & Positioning

A key aspect of the ID. Polo is the price: Volkswagen is aiming for a starting price just under €25,000 – a crucial figure to compete in the compact class against established combustion engines and new electric rivals.

Conclusion: Electric Polo with Potential

The VW ID. Polo successfully combines electric technology, everyday usability, and brand recognition. It represents a clear focus on affordable, practical electric mobility – without significant compromises in range, features, or comfort. Whether as a city car, family daily driver, or commuter companion: the ID. Polo could be the electric vehicle many have been waiting for.
