Costs and Efficiency:
Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.
smart #5 has a convincingly advantage in terms of price – it starts at 39300 £, while the BMW iX costs 71600 £. That’s a price difference of around 32229 £.
In terms of energy consumption, the advantage goes to the BMW iX: with 17.80 kWh per 100 km, it’s minimal more efficient than the smart #5 with 18.40 kWh. That’s a difference of about 0.60 kWh.
As for range, the BMW iX performs a bit better – achieving up to 701 km, about 111 km more than the smart #5.

Engine and Performance:
Under the bonnet, it becomes clear which model is tuned for sportiness and which one takes the lead when you hit the accelerator.
When it comes to engine power, the BMW iX has a hardly perceptible edge – offering 659 HP compared to 646 HP. That’s roughly 13 HP more horsepower.
Both models accelerate almost equally fast – 3.80 s from 0 to 100 km/h.
In terms of top speed, the BMW iX performs somewhat better – reaching 250 km/h, while the smart #5 tops out at 210 km/h. The difference is around 40 km/h.
There’s also a difference in torque: BMW iX pulls evident stronger with 1015 Nm compared to 710 Nm. That’s about 305 Nm difference.

Space and Everyday Use:
Beyond pure performance, interior space and usability matter most in daily life. This is where you see which car is more practical and versatile.

In curb weight, smart #5 is a bit lighter – 2200 kg compared to 2525 kg. The difference is around 325 kg.
In terms of boot space, the smart #5 offers distinct more room – 630 L compared to 500 L. That’s a difference of about 130 L.
In maximum load capacity, the BMW iX performs a bit better – up to 1750 L, which is about 220 L more than the smart #5.
When it comes to payload, BMW iX somewhat takes the win – 575 kg compared to 502 kg. That’s a difference of about 73 kg.
