Here’s where it gets real: The technical differences in detail

Atto 2

Costs and Efficiency:

When it comes to price and running costs, the biggest differences usually appear. This is often where you see which car fits your budget better in the long run.

VW ID.3 is barely cheaper – starting at 29,100 £ , while the BYD Atto 2 costs 30,800 £ . That’s a price difference of around 1,710 £.

In terms of energy consumption, the VW ID.3 is moderately more efficient: consuming 13.9 kWh/100km compared to 15.8 kWh/100km for the BYD Atto 2. That’s a difference of about 1.9 kWh/100km.

As for electric range, the VW ID.3 offers clearly more range – reaching up to 629 km, about 199 km more than the BYD Atto 2.

I've done 6,000 km and I'm delighted. I haven't tried other EVs, but I'm thrilled with the BYD Atto 2. It's true I don't go on long trips — I do everything in the city and nearby, about 100 to 150 km a day — and honestly it's been great in every way. When I hit 300,000 km I'll tell you again. Haha

ID.3 catches less wind. It's more pleasant, especially on the highway. Also: more economical, lighter and with the same step‑in height.
