Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

Honda HR-V is visibly cheaper – starting at 29,100 £ , while the Peugeot 408 costs 35,100 £ . That’s a price difference of around 6,060 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the Peugeot 408 uses 2.6 L/100km and is substantially more efficient than the Honda HR-V with 5.4 L/100km. The difference is about 2.8 L/100km.

Very nice car with plenty of interior space. Reliable engineering and, thank goodness, most functions are still operated with switches or knobs. It sits superbly on the road, although the standard Michelin Primacy 4 tyres produce a somewhat loud rolling noise. As a day-registered car in Elegance trim for €26,980 with zero kilometres, a real bargain. Honda and Toyota are absolutely equal in build quality and reliability. You can buy it without hesitation.
