Toyota Yaris is noticeably cheaper – starting at 21,900 £ , while the Mazda CX-5 costs 30,000 £ . That’s a price difference of around 8,134 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the Toyota Yaris uses 3.8 L/100km and is substantially more efficient than the Mazda CX-5 with 7 L/100km. The difference is about 3.2 L/100km.

I've been driving Mazdas for about ten years now without problems and with a lot of enjoyment. The last 3.5 years in a CX‑5. A really nice, smooth car that can tow quite a bit too, although I wouldn't recommend doing that with the FWD because it lacks grip on the front axle — so if you fit a towbar always choose the AWD. The only downside I can think of, after long consideration, is... nothing 🤔

My Toyota Yaris Hybrid is perfect: small footprint yet a reasonable boot, fuel consumption between 3.2 and 3.9 l/100 km, very comfortable even for long distances. You can fault it for its mediocre uphill acceleration on the motorway. But with speed limits of 70 to 130 km/h, it still remains too powerful.
