Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

XPeng G9 is substantially cheaper – starting at 51,100 £ , while the Mercedes GLS costs 92,700 £ . That’s a price difference of around 41,577 £.

Engine and Performance:

Power, torque and acceleration say a lot about how a car feels on the road. This is where you see which model delivers more driving dynamics.

When it comes to engine power, the XPeng G9 offers markedly more power – delivering 575 HP compared to 404 HP. That’s roughly 171 HP more horsepower.

When accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h, the XPeng G9 is noticeably quicker – completing the sprint in 4.2 s, while the Mercedes GLS takes 5.6 s. That’s about 1.4 s quicker.

I drove the Mercedes EQS and the Xpeng G9 Performance. The Xpeng is an ultra-modern, voice-controlled car with excellent build quality, a superior sound system and air suspension. I now understand why VW invested €700 million to buy a 5% stake in Xpeng. VW cars in China now run on Xpeng technology.

I've seen and driven both cars. The XPeng 9 makes more of an impression. The Zeekr 7x's interior color is limited to black — a real shame! For a nicer contrast you'll have to have it wrapped in a different color. But that's a matter of taste! Otherwise the cars are comparable, noting that the XPeng is a proper SUV while the Zeekr 7x is a crossover.
