Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

Peugeot 308 SW is significantly cheaper – starting at 30,100 £ , while the XPeng G9 costs 51,100 £ . That’s a price difference of around 20,965 £.

In terms of energy consumption, the Peugeot 308 SW is slightly more efficient: consuming 15.7 kWh/100km compared to 18.4 kWh/100km for the XPeng G9. That’s a difference of about 2.7 kWh/100km.

As for electric range, the XPeng G9 offers markedly more range – reaching up to 585 km, about 141 km more than the Peugeot 308 SW.

150,000 km in 2 years — SW BlueHDi 1.5L 30cv. Comfortable, excellent gearbox. Maybe a bit noisy on the motorway, with air noise around the front doors. A slightly punchier engine would be welcome. The entire timing system was replaced under warranty at 110,000 km.

I drove the Mercedes EQS and the Xpeng G9 Performance. The Xpeng is an ultra-modern, voice-controlled car with excellent build quality, a superior sound system and air suspension. I now understand why VW invested €700 million to buy a 5% stake in Xpeng. VW cars in China now run on Xpeng technology.

I've seen and driven both cars. The XPeng 9 makes more of an impression. The Zeekr 7x's interior color is limited to black — a real shame! For a nicer contrast you'll have to have it wrapped in a different color. But that's a matter of taste! Otherwise the cars are comparable, noting that the XPeng is a proper SUV while the Zeekr 7x is a crossover.
