Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

Skoda Karoq is substantially cheaper – starting at 29,100 £ , while the VW ID.7 costs 46,400 £ . That’s a price difference of around 17,293 £.

Engine and Performance:

Power, torque and acceleration are the classic benchmarks for car enthusiasts – and here, some clear differences start to show.

When it comes to engine power, the VW ID.7 offers considerably more power – delivering 340 HP compared to 190 HP. That’s roughly 150 HP more horsepower.

When accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h, the VW ID.7 is clearly quicker – completing the sprint in 5.4 s, while the Skoda Karoq takes 7 s. That’s about 1.6 s quicker.

Very comfortable touring car. The fit and finish are high-quality, practical and well thought-out. Very good driver-assistance systems. In the Sportline trim, the seats are super comfortable with plenty of room for all passengers. Large boot and easily foldable rear seatbacks to expand it. The suspension is tuned for comfort and overall very well balanced. The 150 hp engine runs well and on the highway at 130 km/h is fairly economical (6.3–6.5 liters). In city driving it needs more, however. The automatic shifts flawlessly. We are very satisfied with our Karoq.

The Smart attracts with its power and charging. I ended up choosing the ID7, though. The decision was influenced by it being European and by my three years' experience with the ID4. The ID4 has been an excellent vehicle.

Range is completely wrong compared to what’s shown. In reality you can only rely on about 60% of the distance. The boot only opens for whoever has the key? That’s a massive headache for my work.
