Costs and Efficiency:

Looking at overall running costs, both models reveal some interesting differences in everyday economy.

VW ID.4 is considerably cheaper – starting at 34,800 £ , while the Polestar 4 costs 53,100 £ . That’s a price difference of around 18,275 £.

In terms of energy consumption, the VW ID.4 is a bit more efficient: consuming 15.4 kWh/100km compared to 17.8 kWh/100km for the Polestar 4. That’s a difference of about 2.4 kWh/100km.

As for electric range, the Polestar 4 offers very slightly more range – reaching up to 620 km, about 50 km more than the VW ID.4.

The ID.4 is a bit pricey, but very pleasant to drive. Its winter range could be better — then again, that's a problem all EVs are facing right now.

An ID.4 with 340 hp is not comparable to the Aiways U5! The U5 only has 204 hp! The ID.4’s boot is too small, rear legroom is too tight, no frunk, and it’s a bit confusing…

The Polestar 4 has a very attractive design that doesn’t go unnoticed.
The interior is elegant, comfortable and finished with good materials.
Easy to drive, great grip on the tarmac and strong acceleration.
For the price, there are things to improve to be competitive with other brands of equal quality and technology; it needs meaningful upgrades — e.g., better driving ADAS, true autonomous parking and the ability to move the car remotely if you can’t get inside. Improving charging times is essential, and not having a rear window while relying on a camera in the interior mirror shouldn’t be a cause for concern. Otherwise, a spectacular car with a gorgeous design.
