Price and efficiency are often the first things buyers look at. Here it becomes clear which model has the long-term edge – whether at the pump, the plug, or in purchase price.

VW T-Cross is considerably cheaper – starting at 21,400 £ , while the MG HS costs 30,000 £ . That’s a price difference of around 8,597 £.

Fuel consumption also shows a difference: the MG HS uses 0.5 L/100km and is clearly more efficient than the VW T-Cross with 5.4 L/100km. The difference is about 4.9 L/100km.

I chose the T‑Cross — more comfortable and roomier inside, especially for adult passengers; bought on the model‑year clearance — running costs work out cheaper even taking into account fuel savings from the Toyota hybrid (planned over five years); I like the space and the VW suited me better — I prefer the view through the front windshield.
