Price and efficiency are key factors when choosing a car – and this is often where the real differences emerge.

Volvo XC90 is marginally cheaper – starting at 74,300 £ , while the Mercedes EQS costs 80,900 £ . That’s a price difference of around 6,611 £.

As for electric range, the Mercedes EQS offers clearly more range – reaching up to 920 km, about 851 km more than the Volvo XC90.

Under the bonnet, it becomes clear which model is tuned for sportiness and which one takes the lead when you hit the accelerator.

I drive both cars. The XC90’s boot is — contrary to the figures posted here — noticeably larger than the GLC’s when carrying five people. Overall the XC90 is clearly the more comfortable and, above all, the more stable — and therefore the safer — car.
